When we go to a hotel we always rip the sheets completely off the bed and bundle them up in a ball. A maid will rather put new sheets on than unravel them. We also leave the toilet seat up and take the pillow cases off the pillows and add them to the blanket bundle. I think if every one did stuff like this we will always get clean hotel rooms.

I like that psychology. I had to live in a hotel for a month when I was in CA (was before school started and I wanted to get the lay of the land and meet people, see if I liked the vibe, I did, but wound up going to 1 class a total of 2 times). I did the sheet about every 4 days, just not in a ball. There was like a community closet thing where you could grab TP and other essentials since it was a small town, small hotel and only one maid. Don't want drunk taco bell shits at 2AM without TP lol.

Stripping the bed before you check out not only assures the sheets are changed, but it helps the housekeeper, as well. She has an allotted time to clean each room and the more time you save her, the better she can clean that room. A few other things you can do: throw the dirty towels on the dirty sheet pile. Leave the pillows and blankets on the bed or another (clean) piece of furniture, not on the floor. Leave dishes on the counter and trash all in or around the bin (like pizza boxes). Also, if you leave the tip in a drawer, a coworker with the opportunity to enter the room first will not steal it.
