It honestly depends when it goes off, if your alarm is consistent then your body clock will naturally change itself so by the time it goes off you're already in REM therefore it "is health"
It also depends what stage of sleep you’re in. If you’re in deep REM not only does it interrupt your “most health” stage but is more jarring. If you aren’t in REM a soft alarm or stimulus can wake you easily and with relative little “isn’t health.”
Well REM should be your last stage of sleep, as you go from REM into Stage 1, stage 2, stage 3-4 , then back up to REM and so on. REM being the lightest stage of sleep it would be "most health" to wake up then, as our bodies naturally does this. I may have interpreted your comment wrong though
I phrased it wrong, appologies. I was fighting some jerk over garbage cans while writing and got rattled a bit. Non REM and early REM are the best times to wake up. In the later stages of REM waking up is when you are most disoriented upon waking. That’s probably a better phrasing of what I meant.
Haha it's okay, did you win the fight?
That makes a lot more sense, I agree that when waking up from REM you're disorientated but I think it's still the healthiest for your body to wake up then. Non REM are the deepest stages where the brainwaves are the slowest so waking up then is unnatural and not very good for you, however it does feel better to wake up then. Either way it doesn't cause any major damage
Lol. No worries. I’ve heard compelling evidence both ways. I probably shouldn’t have phrased it so concretely. I did win. Someone tried to tell me it is “illegal to move someone’s trash cans.” After some back and forth I told them they should call the police then and see, as I would be waiting right there. They left.
