My husband gets nosebleeds year round and my son gets seasonal nosebleeds. It always freaks me out because I'll be talking to my husband or doing whatever and suddenly there's blood streaming out of his nose. Or we'll be shopping and he has to use his shirt to cover his nose..So many shirts ruined.
The other night my son woke me up complaining about a runny nose. Without looking I gave him tissue and sent him back to bed. The next morning I went to wake him up and he was covered in crusty blood, his face, hands, arms. His pjs stained, pillow stained, and a pile of bloody tissues in the trash. I felt so bad for him. I feel bad for both of them because I've never had a nose bleed and they seem so awful
Nosebleeds aren't painful which is good, they do look gruesome as hell though, which can be fun to freak others out. More an inconvenience than anything else.
Nosebleeds happen here in kids pretty often because it's so dry and they're dehydrated because they aren't drinking enough water. My son got them quite a bit when he was younger. Now I have him drink more to keep them from coming on.
I recently slept through my first ever nosebleed. I woke up with a strange itch in my nose so I sleepgrabbed a tissue, blew my nose and went back to sleep immediately. The next morning I almost thought someone had tried to murder me in my sleep since everything was full of blood but I soon found out after getting a heartattack while passing a mirror that I had happened to have a nosebleed.
That used to be me. Until my teens, I got a nosebleed every time the place I was in Went from fall to winter and turned on the heat....home, school, stores. Apparently this dried out the nose membranes and led to the bleeding. I got into a fight in a bar around the age of 21 or 22, and in examining the broken nose the otolaryngologist said that there was one blood vessel near the surface, and he cauterize do it. No more oddball nosebleeds! I never got a Nosebleed from hard hits in football or the occasional fight...just the dry air.
But it's always fun to journey down memory lane to relive all the teasing and crap I got in elementary school for that condition that I had no influence over. I also had forgotten about the guy at my 20th high school reunion who's main memory was the teacher having to put a 1st grade field trip on hold to tend to my nosebleed. I hadn't even remembered that, but it was probably true. So there's the additional benefit of getting to recall that, too.
That was what I had when I had nose bleed
