Skin to skin contact is extremely important to the bonding of parent and child at that stage. It soothes the baby as well, since newborns are extremely sensitive to touch.

Whoa. Back off. I understand. I get it. It was a joke. I am aware that infants recognize voices from when they were in the womb. And they bond by sensory development. Skin contact and scent usually. It was a bad joke and I am ashamed. I'll go stand in the corner.
