I heard this on our local news as well. I was actually glad to hear them say it. Honestly I am sick and tired of hearing bullshit post about news and such. People on the internet don't check thier facts and post what their opinion is on matters they know nothing about and say it is a fact. It causes to many false information and stuff like that is why if you don't look things up for your self you will never know the truth.
Them all saying that their news will always make sure what they are reporting is fact is a big relief.

That's not the point tho. 6 companies in the U.S. own every national and local news outlet. It shows that when it wants, a company can make dozens of its outlets say whatever it wants. It's actually scary as shit.

So you wish there was more news stations because it is allowed. And no it is not scary because you are a fucking idiot if you hear the facts from one thing and believe it to be the only truth. It is just one COMPANY that support the local news in an area. They tell you what is happening in your immediate area and what is happening globally that is important.
You being scared that the local news is owned by one company and not many other stations is available is like freaking out because your local newspaper is only ONE newspaper.
And those get retractions put in EVERYDAY! So what if NBC PBS FOX etc... are the only local television news. Open the paper, open a magazine, search google, HELL if it is really important it be blasting warnings across your phone.
If you REALLY were worried about the world around you, you wouldn't be waiting till 6 o'clock for a smug man or a snotty woman to blab about the local gossip. Because they are not their to inform you they are there for ratings.

Lol chill out. I don't watch the local news. You completely missed what I was saying. That's why this country is so devided. Half the companies that own the news say one thing, and the other half says another. What I'm saying is if a company wanted to say that Apple's are now considered deadly, a lot of America would believe it bc they don't get on Google other forms of finding factual information.

@morebacon. Yeah I hear ya on that. Got buds that think since they heard the “news” on our local station that it’s true an should be taken at face value. But if they heard the same thing on a bigger news station they would dig into it cause the big ones are the only ones who “lie”. I only beleave who’s story I can back up with a little digging on my own. I saw waaaay to many holes in stories my local news were telling to many times.

The consolidation of manipulative media conglomerates with agendas is terrifying, imo we're looking at a grim future

If that upsets you thank Bill Clinton for the telecommunications act of 1996 and start contacting your local congressmen and set about getting it amended or repealed.
