Why would it baffle mordern day science

It doesn't baffle scientists it was created like so many other things simply by carving down. Seriously there is a ton of work already documented about the techniques used and the manpower needed. fun fact the city of Petra in Jordan was made with the same technique not due to coincidence but because it was made by traders that traveled from the Mediterranean to india and they were familiar with architecture from all the areas they traveled
