Ugh. You can't just double the resources. Do you have ANY idea how horribly that would destabilize the orbit of every planet/star/moon/comet/asteroid... resulting in the destabilization of every galaxy? Doubling the mass of all matter not occupied by a living thing of every galaxy would result in a universal extinction level event far beyond what he did with the finger snap.
If possible, it's the stupidest fucking idea there is.
only half of all sentient beings, not half of everything. It's a lot less mass being lost, not enough to really effect the orbit of anything catastrophically.
I meant intelligent, not sentient*. Anyway, if half the human population on Earth disappeared, Earth's orbit wouldn't change. It would be about the same for any other planet in the universe with intelligent life. Now, if you doubled the Earth's mass, not only would you totally screw up the surface gravity, but you'd drastically throw our orbit out of whack.
The Moon would also be ripped apart as it's orbit destabilizes and all that debris would rain down and wipe out all life.
The point isn't that his plan is ridiculous; the point is that he is a fanatic hellbent on applying his overly simple solution to a vastly complicated problem.
Resulting in exponential increase of people too..
