My boyfriends dog does something similar. She was pulled away from her mom at a young age and never learned to bark properly so she makes that sound instead

Omggg that is so sad.one of my dogs was taken from mom way to early too but I guess he learned from my other dog. He is super anxious though :/

Oh no! That’s so sad. Growing up around another dog probably helped. His was alone for a few years. I hope your dog is alright!!
