Anyone can do what they want so long as they can own up to the consequences that follow.

All these "It's my ____, I can do what I want with it" is just empowerment bullshit. Things like self-harm, obesity and drug abuse etc can't be justified with that statement. The right way is to respect your body. Western culture can be very narcissistic sometimes.

I think it refers mostly to tattoos and piercings, sweetie. I know my granddaughter Wendy justified her first tattoo with that argument. :-)

So who is to say what I can't put in or on my body? That goes against the entire idea of freedom of self. Sorry, all those things CAN be justified by that statement. Some people will screw it up, but so long as there is no harm for others the only authority over your own body should be yourself. The state doesn't fucking own me.

It's not really your body when you're a child though. Other people have physical authority over you.
