@metalman Well when you are in Europe, you can easily drive to other countries...sometimes in just a few hours. There is more exposure to other languages and more need to be multilingual. I could drive for a few hours here, and not even be out of my state - let alone in another country.
I know that, that's what i was saying. I work in Europe I've learned very basic German and certain words in polish. If i didn't have a reason to then i wouldn't have learned any of either.

I doubt all the world will speak one language, I for one will never give up my mother tongue and I’m sure the same goes for almost everyone

It'll happen eventually. Or at least everyone will need to learn the universal language while at the same time keeping their mother tongues.

English may very well become the lingua franca of the world (though the middle east and russia probably won’t like that all too much) but as I said I doubt everyone will become monolingual, especially when speaking multiple languages has cognitive benefits
But if you are traveling to a different country with a different language than your own don't be the dick yelling in your own language to people who don't understand you. Learn the language of the place you are going. And learn thier manners. It keep you for looking like an idiot.
Typo in this meme. They said ‘speak English’ when I think they meant ‘speak American.’ Freedom! ‘Murica!
