I think really anything can be classified as an addiction if the compulsion to do/use the addictive thing interferes with or prevents normal activities with regularity.
Breathing isn't an addiction, but compulsive deep breathing exercises that keep you from eating, sleeping, working, etc. would be an addiction.
Ergo, if your gaming hobby gets in the way of eating, sleeping, working, etc. on a regular basis, then maybe it is an addiction.
20 hours a week? Fuck I can do 20 hours a day if I try hard enough.

If someone can do something while holding down a job, paying their bills, getting enough sleep, getting enough to eat, and sometimes spending time with their loved ones then it's not an addiction. Or if it is, who cares? I think if you maintain those five things, we can just write that thing off as a hobby and not give a shit.
I play dota (not really very often cause none of my friends play anymore.) I could never understand playing a game where you had to pay for heros or wait ages to get the in game stuff to unlock them when dota exists totally for free
