That journeyman electrician makes 200 bucks an hour when he's turning tricks maybe. Indeed.com says its around $30. If you want to badmouth unions it might be helpful to have a slight idea what you're talking about. So it sounds like you're just parroting what your Trump voting dad is rambling at dinner.

My cousins picked up a job at amazon during their Christmas workload, and while they didn't tell me any terrible stories like this, it was not easy work. You had a five minute break to use the bathroom, and that included the walk to and back. If would not surprise me if some facilities are really harsh and strict enough to warrant what the post above claims.

The claim that they'd stop getting paid is what I call into question.

They'd probably get fired in all honesty. There's so many temp hires and whatnot that they probably can get away with firing people over small infractions without too much of a hassle.

I would love to meet these electricians that make 400k a year doing nothing. My stepdad was in the union and he made absolutely nowhere near that even with a ton of overtime. He was never allowed to slack off at work or he got written up. Too many write ups (don’t remember the exact number) and you could get fired and the union couldn’t do shit to protect you. Now I’m in a Union, teachers union to be exact, and I’m the union rep. The union provides great benefits but it has it’s downfalls. I’m grateful for my union because my job is stressful enough and I couldn’t imagine what might be attempted by my principal if I didn’t have protections. Many of my coworkers think they’re untouchable bc they’re in a Union but it’s not true. I’ve sat in on several disciplinary meetings and people have been reprimanded (none serious enough that the person should’ve been fired). I’ll agree that unions sometimes protect people they shouldn’t and that needs to be addressed
