Yea nah mate, being a parent isn't some magical font of emotional diversity that can't be found elsewhere. Going from your club being announced to being in the top 3% in the world after watching team D barely pull out a win in the state finals and get sent to the worlds competition using your autonomous code and having all your hard work pay off in the best way it possibly could and then going to having 4 of your family and fiends die in the span of 10 months and watching a close friend fall apart from the loss of an immediate family member and the subsequent alcohol abuse probably had about the same range

Having taken the time to read that- all maybe 10 seconds, I agree whole heartedly with the sentiment that the idea being a parent somehow elevated your struggles and emotional highs and lows over anyone else is silly. Parents get to experience some things that most others can’t, but to say that someone else doesn’t or can’t feel the way you do undermines them as a human being. People can’t compare feelings and say who’s are more valid. We all experience highs and lows and to us- the greatest low or high we know is still the greatest we can know at that time.
