Where is this from? Cause I am IN LOVE with that character writing, instead of all that stupid "ah you lost, well then die you perfectly good and capable warrior that I could've used later on".
I'm reminded of a story. It's been a while since I've heard it, so it may not match what you guys have heard.
The story starts with a woman who just started working at a large company. After a few days, the woman makes a mistake that costs the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. She was, of course, called to her boss's office. She expected her boss to fire her, but he instead told her what she did wrong. Later, she asked her boss why he didn't fire her. He replied that why would he fire an employee who lost him hundreds of thousands of dollars just for someone who hasn't made that mistake to do it again.
tl;dr People make mistakes and firing someone for the mistake only allows that same mistake to happen again causing you to lose even more.
