It really was. Childhood trauma causes extreme immaturity and extreme maturity. Sometimes they're forced directly into acting maturity, but sometimes they shield themselves from it by acting immaturly even if they are indeed mature.
It's still relative though. No amount of abuse will ever make a nine year old act like they're 30. It's more of an acceleration that, sometimes literally as in my case, kicks them ahead of where they should be.
I was just reminded of how it actually made me somewhat of a hoarder. I struggle to throw things away because I never had much. I have a growing collection of empty candle jars. It took me years to learn to eat candy in a single sitting rather than a single bar of chocolatte over the course of weeks because I knew it was the only sweet thing I'd get for who knows how long.
Truth spoken. I also collect crap, in my case it's pieces of plastic or paper that I find enjoyable in some way -nicely textured, shiny or beautifully colored-. At least our collections aren't expansive ones X)
