Weird to choose "admits", as though they are guilty of something

They are. They are guilty of proving that NASA can spend $400 Million and get 14 years of use out of it. Instead of a few months.

Guilty of being more efficient than the military at spending money and getting results.

I don't claim to know everything about Opportunity, but it doesn't look like they planned to get it back. The hardware required to get off Mars just wasn't included. Probably because it doesn't make sense. Why spend extra to get it back? Aside from putting it in a museum, there's not really much else you could do with it. I mean, sure you could reform it for another mission elsewhere, but it'd be easier and cheaper to just create a new rover.

Mars had a huge dust storm, they were trying to get the rover back online, but were unsuccessful.

Gotta make NASA look bad. They are wasting our tax dollars trying to get us into space to spread out and evolve. We HAVE to all die here on this rock. *sarcasm*
