There is a book that works entirely like this post, it's a fun read. It's called Lost Civilization, by David Macaulay. Basically 2000 years in the future scientists discover stuff we left behind and interpretate them. They ended up thinking toilet seats are a fancy traditional head ornament.
Our archeology teacher talked about it last year and she gave us the BEST final ever, it was actually really cool and enjoyable : we had 2 pics of an ancient statue (garden gnome) from the 2000's that a dog had dug up. We had other elements : exact location, materials etc, and we had to interpretate it. The trick was, most kids were biased, because knowing it was a garden gnome, or just like that post, thinking the "logical" answer would be a worshipping of some kind, they didn't cover other possibilities or justify sufficiently their answers. Important lesson + creative & funny exam.
