Steve Irwin would definitely say that. Someone on his team (can't remember if it was his wife or one of the crew) even said that it wasn't the Sting Ray's fault.
This is the Same man who made a movie, TV series, dedicated his life to the preservation and education of these animals. Crocodiles in particular, but all of them. Hell, he even took his baby into an enclosure with one. Whether you agree with that action or not isn't the point here, though--the point is that that's how much he cared about teaching people about animals and spreading his message.
People always bring up the sting ray (literally ANY post that mentions Steve Irwin someone comes along and talks about the sting ray) like that's the defining moment in his career, and the sting ray was some evil monster that took Steve from us, when he'd never have actually seen it that way. The fact people have to be reminded of that at all is proof we definitely didn't come close to deserving him
His wife had to hold a press conference not long after he died reminding people that was basically the opposite of everything he had spent his life teaching, and harming animals for any reason was the last thing he'd have wanted.

I'm more on board with the overlapping heavens and hells theory. Heaven for dogs overlaps with heaven for humans. Dog heaven also overlaps squirrel hell.
After he passed away I remember seeing a little cartoon drawing with a stingray crying on the shoulder of a crocodile. The stingray's tail was bandge up and the crocodile had an australian bush hat on. Under that it said "I didn't mean to do it."
About damn near made me flat out bawl.
LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THIS SHEELA!
*gets bit*
Don't blame the animal kids. I was in her territ'ry and this little nip was a warning. She was telling me I was in her space and need to back off.
Let's go look for something else before we cause her anymore stress.
I was home alone and sick once, lying down on the couch and trying to find something good to watch on cable. Something caught my eye as I scrolled through, and I couldn't believe it; Crocodile Hunter. The second I heard his gentle, excitable voice blammering on about the biggest sheila on the island, I burst into tears. I cried through the entire episode until I couldn't cry anymore. I can't see or hear him. It hurts too bad. I love you, sweetheart. You are dearly missed. Please take care in the kingdom of the sky.
