Not a plot hole. The key word is “human knowledge.” If anything that makes being wrong more likely, as you have less people working on findging answers and more people just reusing the answers that other people care up with. In two identical groups of 1,000 people we have a greater chance of getting 1,000 wrong answers if all of them use the same original answer that is wrong and simply copy it, than if each one were to come up with an answer on their own. While there are many channels people use to access information, most channels tend to get their information from the same or only a few sources, and most hosts of information simply cite another host who held the information before them, and so on. If you attempt to verify a fact in this system, it will usually come back seemingly correct because all your sources will lead to the same or similar origins and you’re just forwarding the same information down the chain.
