There's a difference between defending and validating. She needs to be held accountable for the assault she committed. But that doesn't mean that she too can't be a victim from a separate incident.
I agree with the article that she shouldn't be an advocate for survivors and in actuality hurts survivors more than helps, but it doesn't invalidate her experience with Harvey Weinstein.

I absolutely hate these kind of people. I am not saying that her instance with Harvey Weinstein is now not valid, but when you went through such a traumatic experience, when you were shaken to the core by a thing, then how can you inflict that same thing on others? How? Its the same exact story. There is still no trusting of people in power, regardless the gender! I am not this mad because it is a guy, I am this mad because how can someone who has areas gone through a trauma, can inflict it on others? And be so calm about it!
Having known people this has happened to, and knowing it STILL effects them, even to this day, cannot overstate how important it is.
Even if the guy DOES consent, if he's underage, wtf does that matter? The whole point of having an Age of majority is to protect minors from being abused and put in situations that have the potential to negatively impact their development. Nowhere does it say "but only if the victim is a girl," or "unless the perpetrator is an attractive female, in which case he's definitely just lucky."
A lot of males are pressured into thinking they are required to have sex as soon as possible, and all the time after that.
It makes me so uncomfortable how movies and TV just try to normalize this shit. Like no matter how many times a guy says no, no matter how old he is, the female character just keeps pushing and taking off more clothes and getting more sexually aggressive until he eventually "consents," or the screen just pans away. If a female character is sexually manipulated into doing something it's assault and a lawsuit. If it happens to a male character it was just.. Awkward sex. Maybe. Usually it's passed off as he actually enjoyed it anyway. The fuck?
Thank you! I had a whole argument with my parents about this just recently. People just don’t think about this side of things - they don’t consider it a reality.
These guys are seriously defending these people. https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/2018/8/20/17758714/asia-argento-jimmy-bennett-harvey-weinstein-me-too-movement-sexual-assault-allegations
