(Next part is just for people entirely unfamiliar with that storyline. I'm not an expert, however, so if I get something wrong feel free to correct me).
Iirc irony abounds that whole storyline because Death resurrected Thanos to restore balance to the universe (she felt there was an imbalance where life was exceeding death).
Thanos becomes infatuated with mistress Death and wants to talk with her, but he was more powerful than her and so he couldn't.
He then attempted to prove himself to her by wiping out half the universe (sound familiar?), which she then tried to fight against him over.
Somewhere Along the way deadpool kept almost dying and having near-death experiences (literally. They were close enough to talk), and he and Death ended up somewhat infatuated with each other, which made Thanos jealous.
Thanos basically became the ultimate possessive non-boyfriend and subscribed to the philosophy of "if I can't have you, no one will" and makes Deadpool unable to die
