Actually they don’t. Mosquitos live through the winter but they are dormant.

It's always better when you have a premature thaw and things heat up so the Mosquitoes come out then it freezes again suddenly. That will kill those suckers.

Not unless is drops below 0F. Otherwise they just find a slightly sheltered place and go dormant. Wake right back up when it gets warm. Resilient little bastards.

When you live in a state where the state bird is mosquitos, you get pretty annoyed at them and wished death on them, their family, and their cow.
