I live in a country where the roads haven’t really been under construction for at least 50 years. Remember that the next time someone wants to give you Millenials shit about being lazy, irresponsible, or detached from civics. The boomers let the infrastructure their parents and before built, erode slowly over time. Drive in developed areas of Europe or Japan and compare their roads to US ones.Remember that the institutions of pension, retirement, gone ownership, public transit, public roads, education, bridges, and more were in their hands for a lifetime and through some of the greatest economic booms and highest cases of personal wealth in history they allowed them to devolve to where they are today, while pocketing the money. Please realize when they trash talk the younger generations for not having homes or this or that- it is like having a friend who doesn’t pay their bills but ball out on credit while you can’t afford to. Except you get stuck with the bill.

Roads aren't a one and done project, they require maintenance and upkeep, which requires construction. If you don't want to rattle your eyeballs out when you're driving, be happy that roads are under construction!

When you take nine months to repave fifty square yards there's a problem.

That’s a state crew.

Are they the same state crew that can tear up and lay down three lanes of a whole fucking mile of asphalt in six hours overnight? Because the freeway crews have their shit together.

I’m fairness we are both generalizing. There are plenty of of good crews, and bad crews. There are good workers, and bad workers. When you’ve got a six lane freeway that’s going to see rush hour traffic and you don’t get it finished on schedule- you’re in deep shit. It’s not like taking an extra ten minutes on lunch where maybe no one notices. Thousands of people will notice. So if it takes One night for 6 lanes of blacktop, but takes a month to lay down a residential block. Maybe one is a bad crew and one is a good crew, or maybe it’s the same crew and they’re just smart enough to know where they can milk it and where they can’t. Or maybe it’s not the crew. Maybe it’s managment, budget, planning that screwed the pooch or made it so only a total sack could screw it up. Who knows? I suppose it’s case by case in the real world. That said I was recycling an old joke and meant no offense. Sorry if it touched a nerve. I respect and appreciate the Good work done by so many good workers.
