My nephew was bullied a lot in middle school. He was also taking Kung Fu at the time. One day he went home crying because the kid who bullied him just wouldn't stop, he was always shoving him and threatening to "kick his ass". His mom asked if he had tried talking to the kid and asking him to stop. My nephew had but of course the bully didn't, so his parents said "Well, you know how to defend yourself. Next time he threatens you tell him to go ahead and do it". The next day the bully threatened him, my nephew said Come at me and he knocked the bully to the ground in one hit. Of course the bully went crying to a teacher and my nephew got in trouble, BUT he wasn't bullied anymore after that :)

My kid will tell you once that you're bugging him and ask you to stop, after that if you choose to not listen its your own fault. I've already been called to a meeting this year because he flipped a kid over his shoulders for repeatedly calling him stupid because of his cognitive delay. He told the teacher twice and warned the kid four times to stop, the teacher dropped the ball and my kid decided to kick it this was the same insufferable brat that ruined two of my kid's shirts with permanent marker this week, I told the school administration that either they stop it or I'll hit them and the other parents in the budget!

Simple advice my husband gave our kids: you better not be the one to start a fight, but make sure you are the one to finish it.
