Preach. Individuals should still try at the bare minimum to not be destructive, but when it comes to things like waste or smog, we allow government backed by industry and interested in production figures and economics to put the burden of being “green” on individuals instead of impacting corporate profitability and productivity by demanding industrial level changes- changes which for less individual impact would make a much greater ecological impact. It’s a smoke screen, a misdirection. While they have people spending $40k on a hybrid version of a $15k car and composting their own farts, they withdrew legislation requiring industrial producers to equip factories with catalytic converters and other pollution controls. Sad and darkly funny.
Individuals can write to their MPs though (not sure what the term is in the US, their local politician) and look to vote with their wallets for companies who are sustainable and eco-friendly.
Also, the danger with the war on plastic is that it is detracting from and actually feeding into the problem of greenhouse gases, sometimes plastic is more carbon friendly than other packaging for instance.
They say it’s an actual island that you can stand an walk on. Now if that’s true or not I don’t know. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. Cause we’re killing Mother Earth an she is done. She gonna cleanse us from her soon. May not be today maybe not next week. But I’m sure within a 100yrs or so!
I wish you could post pics in thread replies. I’d post this one whenever people talk about their right to be offensive. I only mention this because that is somewhat the topic of a post above this one. As the world population grows, the impact of any “one little thing” anyone does is magnified. If each person only takes a tiny bit more than they need, multiplied by billions, the amount is huge. If each person only runs the AC a little longer or only turns the thermostat up a few degrees, if each person only drives drunk once in a while or only is a jerk once a day.... this is it. This is the physical reality of that. If every person does a little “bad” or “harm,” and the number of people keeps growing at the current rate, such things won’t be a luxury we can afford to allow unless we want to live in a physical and cultural wasteland.
