It's a popular pizza in Australia. Most people just don't like the idea of it but haven't tried it.

When I was a child my parents were divorced but still living in the same house. I ate deep dish pizza 'Hawaii' for dinner, and later slept in my fathers bed. I woke up in the middle of the night, puking out chunks of undigested pineapple onto my covers. My father who had woken up, asked me: 'Sooo, you had Pizza Hawaii for dinner?' This sentence still haunts me... and I never had another slice with pineapple again.
