Potatoes actually have a rich history that includes pastors and preachers spreading word of the power of the potato. I'm not joking.

The alcohol for Gin is brewed with: sugar, yeast, tomato paste, and a lemon.

Most are made with grain mash. All alcohol is made with yeast and sugar. Yeast eats the sugar producing alcohol. The multitude of flavorings in gin include lemon, orange, juniper berries, anise, and coriander. Also, gin is terrible.

You can make alcohol with basically anything plant based food. Hell just leave your apple juice out in room temp for a while and BOOM
