Not everyone can work with thier mind as a Doctor or a CEO not everyone can work with their hands like a mechanic or a carpenter that is why there is jobs at gas stations and fast food.
That is why schools give you the basic information and have you also learn other things. Like you may hate that mandatory science and you probably barely passing but there is a kid who is top of that class and one day will be making life saving inventions thanks to being inspired by that science class you hated so much. That English class you nap in there is a kid learning to become the next greatest author of our generation.

Be thankful there is a future waiting for you no matter what you do. Just make sure what you do either makes you happy and/or pays the bills till something that does comes along.
Every student IS a bundle of potential. Not every single one will live up to that potential, and not every single one has the same potential. The thing about potential is that is all it is. Potential. You can’t judge potential until it is or isn’t realized, you can only guess as to who is most likely to at a given time based on circumstances and attitude. This is why we can’t simply “write people off.” So no, not every single student will invent warp drive or cure cancer, create a new daring genre of art or catch the mysteries of existence. However each one will live a life of choices and each one will at any time have great potential to make changes for better or worse to world world, and only the lens of history will truly determine at the end of it all what things really were either. It’s easy to begin to think of humans as interchangeable and disposable as the population soars and the actual need for labor decreases, but it isn’t manifest destiny or natural skill, just luck.
