I have an awful memory when it comes to people

That's actually quite a good idea which I will be using in the future.

I used to do this on any games I'd play as well.. Meet someone, they'd friend me, and it'd be like "okay, here's what we were, what we talked about, etc..."
I'm really shitty at remembering people :/

I also do this. Whenever I meet new people while walking my dog, I always remember the dog but hardly ever the people so now I write down the dog’s name and their people so I don’t forget
