Why wouldn’t they know what screaming is? Not being able to hear doesn’t have a direct effect on intelligence, and growing up in a world full of people who can hear, even a person born without hearing is generally aware of the existence and context of sounds. In fact, those who can’t hear often make many of the sounds the hearing do- they can’t hear them of course, but they can be aware of the feeling of doing it (sobbing- for instance) and recognize others do the same things. That of course doesn’t mention people who weren’t born without hearing, and those who qualify as deaf but still have some poor hearing or in certain frequency ranges.
Yeah deaf people yawn too. You think just because someone can't hear, that means they aren't burdened with the crippling weight of school and work and life in general and never feel the sweet call of sleep beckoning them at all hours, like the rest of us? Pssh.
Yawning and screaming don't actually look the same. There are stuble differences and deaf people are typically skilled in noticing the differences.
When you lack a major sense you do your best to make up for it with th our other senses.
Also, most deaf people are only partially deaf, and screaming is loud enough I would guess most deaf people could probably hear it if they were near enough.
