That's one thing I noticed when I went to California-- cancer labels are literally EVERYWHERE. A friend of mine ordered some computer parts from California and received a warning that it could cause cancer. After much research it was deduced the chemical they were talking about was at about .0006ppm (idr the actual measurement) and would need to be at around 50000 times that amount, and airborne for an extended period of time (or eaten) to Have any kind of lasting effect.

Just waiting on someone to spend millions to make a giant continent sized sticker to place on the side of earth that says "warning: may cause cancer"

Nah, just a California sized one, since this absolutely asinine regulation is exclusive to them.

who says they would keep it to themselves tho? Just with the example of the computer parts their stupidity would effect everyone else in this as well

In the 32 years that its been in effect the idiocy has yet to spread. Of course California is basically considered the "special" cousin among the states.

The labels are everywhere and it’s dumb yes. When you buy produce they are in the produce isle because of the waxes and pesticides used on produce. The fact is that almost everything in modern society uses some chemical or process that is known to cause cancer or reproductive harm. They meant well by the law- to protect people who may not know certain things had harmful chemicals and to avoid frivolous lawsuits by people linking some random thing to an illness. The fact is that if you live long enough without something else killing you, you die of cancer. It’s basic biology. But meh. It’s not really a big deal. It’s not like the signs are some huge eye sore or it’s a huge bother to deal with, and it’s true that wherever you are a sign there is an increased risk of cancer. They just put the info out there for people to do whatever they want with. Sort of like surgeon generals warnings on alchohol or cigarettes. It’s 2018- people should know by now, but for the few who don’t....

Cali has labeled coffee as cancerous. It isnt, or at least not more than any other processed food out there.
