Because they are responsible for either accepting it which implies :
- making drastic changes to our way of life to make a positive change (this can imply reduction of comfort (forbid the use of cars in many scenarios where they aren't 'mandatory', w/e else you can think of), cost of life increase etc...) which is NOT what a politician wants (its gonna make him look bad).
- OR saying straight up "fuck the planet".
Whereas if they take the liberty to discuss it and deny it then you can convince people coal is a good idea.

My step-grandpa thinks the exact same way as Trump.
I kinda think Trump isn't really stupid -- but he's in the business of swindling stupid people out of their votes, which is best accomplished by saying stupid things.
Climate change is NOT a political issue, it is a scientifc matter. This issue doesn't belong in the politcal sphere, where politicians can stupidly deabte it.
We know, for a scientifc fact, that humans are having a detrimental impact on the climate. That's the wonderful thing about facts, whether you believe in them or not - it doesn't alter their truthfulness. They're still facts.
We might as well argue whether gravity is real.
His comments are in response to all those people who used "hottest day in 20 years" and "hottest summer on record" as proof *of* climate change. His counterpoint, however simplistic, is equal to,some of the junk pushed by climate change promoters.
The US and other developed countries have reduced emissions of greenhouse gases, but any further improvement can't counteract all the impact from China and India. So before we wreck the developed world's economies over a few percent, the massive influence of the few mega polluters needs to be addressed.
So nino equals a milder winter, what am I missing? Also, yes, the climate has been changing for millions of years; please don’t call for this, I know it seems so simple, “save the environment” but for one humans aren’t making as big an impact as we think and for two we couldn’t save this place if we tried.
The amount the climate has changed in the last 100 years is equal to that of the amount it changed in the time of hundreds of thousands of years up until that time frame. We are making a huge fucking impact.
The state of shittyness in America just switches flavors with every president. It's always been awful and it'll always be awful regardless of whose in office even if this one is absolutely fucking stupid
