Every culture on earth has some type of vampiric or undead monster. Europe has vampires. Zombies arent European they have their origin in Vodoo. Which was imported to north america from african pagan religions.
In south africa we have a creature called a tokoloshi... they're short hairy creatures that turn invisible when they drink water... its said that they're sent by vindictive humans too cause trouble for whomever is targeted.... the only way you can protect yourself from them is by sleeping on an elevated bed because they're too short to climb up and kill you
After doing some digging i found the japanese didn't have a "vampire" per se. They had malevolent spirits in denons but no undead blood suckers. India Babylon Africa native americans from Algonquin to Aztecs all had something.
