As someone who considers himself a huge fan of the Diablo games and has put hundreds of hours into each of the 3 over the years, but who also is a very casual player and has never been one for grinding or farming or any of that stuff, I just wanted to bring up the fact that there's actually a thing you can do. It's, uh, not play it. Big sad face bummer everyone was expecting Diablo 4, but remember when they kept pushing 3 back over and over to make sure it was just right? Immortal is something to help pass the time until 4 is announced however far down the road.

There were a lot of issue as far as how it was announced and what it is turning out to be though. Hyping up a new Diablo game, waiting till the end of the long presentation to show it and not expecting the backlash was idiotic from a marketing and pr standpoint. Then the fact the Chinese company primarily making it is known for making the same game with different skins which from the gameplay shown is what Diablo immortal is, just a reskin of that companies other games.

Oh yeah, I read about all of that. I'm just thinking, I understand people's disappointment, but if they don't want to play it (I probably won't play it either, but not because I'm upset with Blizzard or whatever, I just don't really play phone games and I only have enough hours in the day to live my normal, non Diablo themed life, which includes plenty of other games) then they don't have to play. Maybe once no one plays they'll realize okay people really don't want this phone game do they? Whoops, that was a huge financial failure. Let's not make that mistake again.

I'm just concerned that with the way things have been going lately...just in this world of ours, that people could probably be using their time more wisely than pouting about this travesty of a game. There are better things to be pissed about. I worry that when it comes out, and regular fans of Diablo thus far give it a try, and like it, then people who are on the hatewagon will generally make those people, who just want to mind their own business and play a game they find enjoyable, feel bad about it. I hate when that happens with things. Let people enjoy stuff.

I want to see the mobile market grow and change its reputation from free-to-pay knockoff timewasters to good games on the go. I'm excited for what this could do for the mobile reputation, but also understand and share the fear that it'll be a game that fits in and reinforces the former category.
