Because in order for our political elites to maintain the current power structure they have to impede people from being able to actually change that power structure as much as possible. Of course we don’t get off work to vote, it’s not in most politicians best interests to let a majority of their populous vote.
I take a little offense for the lack of a better word that people complain about lines for voting. This is supposed to be a first world country, it can get its shit together for all cebters to have enough materials and equipment. If you have to wait an hour or 2 so be it. Some countries would kill to just wait an hour ir 2 and if everything is closed you have no where to be anyways. Furthermore, voting for a president of 4 years seems like not good enough for an hour line but "it's a small worls after all" does?
Ugh.. end of rant.
Make all the excuses you like, but there is 0 reason for the screwed up system we have.
A non-corrupt democracy would make voting simple and easily-accessible for ALL of it's citizens, not to mention foster their constituents' education on the issues, and their representatives.
Go.
In any case, whatever solution was found, Florida would find some way to screw it up.
