I think so. I'm guessing it's a heat transducer. Night, cloudy days, atmospheric pollution, acid rain and a buncha stuff says this ain't gonna work. You get ya some sunshine on that there panel and ya gonna get WhooHoo . But if'n ya let people have those they are gonna drop 'em and smudge 'em and eventually you'll be selling saddle soap to buffalo hunters.
The solar-harvesting system uses organic molecules developed by Lunt and his team to absorb invisible wavelengths of sunlight. The researchers can “tune” these materials to pick up just the ultraviolet and the near-infrared wavelengths that then convert this energy into electricity (watch a demonstration of the process here)

MIT have developed an Aluminium based battery, not toxic like cadnium, not explosive like lithium, for the same size, can hold 6 times the power and recharge (phone sized) in a minute from 0-100%. This was more than a year ago, where is it now?
.
Take it with a grain of salt though, there's not much else backing it up.
