What happens if it gets caught and ripped out

That’s pretty much the case with any piercing. I woman I knew long ago caught her nipple rings on her sheets once and pulled them out, and I’ve seen enough people get piercings pulled out in fights or as a “sucker punch” to gain advantage when attacked by surprise. That doesn’t include accidental pulling in horse play or random or even in sexual acts which often involve nibbling or close proximity to commonly pierced areas. There’s also blunt trauma to consider, a solid object, including accidentally impacting or being impacted, will obviously hurt, but if the position in his right and the soft tissue is in between an object which impacts you, and the hard piercing, or a hard piercing and bone, the injury from what would have been a bruise or the like can be much more severe. Like most non functional aesthetic changes to functional mechanical systems, there are risks and draw backs that one should be aware of and accepting of such factors, or appreciate but not participate in them.
