I mean, to be fair Frodo had been carrying the ring nearly constantly for several months at that point. It took Smeagol only about 17 seconds of indirect contact with the ring to murder his best friend. Plus the ring was likely far more desperate to get back to Sauron in the Lord of the Rings (not to mention their proximity to Morder). Sam struggled some against the ring after only carrying it for a short time.
'
Hobbits also iirc are mentioned in the books as being somewhat more immune to the ring's charms because they aren't magical like the elves and wizards, and not power hungry like the race of man. Sam was quite content with his lot in life as a Gandalf and serving Frodo well.
'
All that in mind, Sam is still a hero and not trying to take away from that, but try and keep it all in perspective

Edited because autocorrect doesn't believe in hobbits or Mordor, and "hobbies" and "mirror" are poor substitutes. Also, according to it, Gandalf was a Gardner, not a wizard.
Also boromir got within 3 inches of it and lost his cool. Frodo had some serious good guy mojo to put up with it. And also to be fair Aragon is at least 30% of the strength. Hes a bad ass
funfact: Sean Bean was so scared of flying in a helicopter, he opted to drive and then hike several hours in full costume to get to shooting sites, then hike back at the end of the day
Fun fact #2: Sean Astin was doing his very best to direct the helicopter pilots how to land, much to everyone else's amusement:

(Also this made me nostalgic as heck and now I want to go rewatch the behind the scenes stuff)
@texasranger I'm not sure, but that certainly sounds like something he would do. I mean, he bought "Asfolath's" trainer the horse for her because he knew she loved it so much (he also bought "Brego" -- the horse he rode -- after filming.

@iccarus they're all awesome haha. Sometimes the behind the scenes stuff for movies/shows is just meh, but this was all very well put together. It really can make you picture the journey they all went on. Even a lot of the commentary on the movies is really interesting/entertaining

Tig is amazing.
