Reasons to live:
Cute puppies, sunrises, sunsets, listening to your favorite song over and over, bubble wraps, chocolate, ice cream, pizza, binge watching your favorite series, etc.
an important part of any major thought process is self diagnosis. Am I being influenced by the moment, an advertisement, recent events? Am I in the right mindset to make this decision? If your list of “pros” to your life looks like that- you have failed self diagnosis and know that you are not in a right mindset. The fact your parents would be said means many things. You have parents. They care about you. You wouldn’t care if they were sad if you didn’t care about them. If 2 people care about you, that probably means more do as well. There are many other things that likely are true and wonderful in your life that we can then explore. But if you made that list you can’t. That’s how depression works. You can’t see the forest through the trees. You become incapable of seeing and feeling so much in your life and start focusing only on a select few, usually negative, things. You build a fake world where you are hopeless and worthless and or life is and you convince yourself the most...
... obvious failure of self diagnostic logic- “it always will be.” “It will never be right...” always. Never. Absolutes that you not only have no way to know, but statistically speaking you are almost certainly wrong. But you can’t see that. So if you are in a place where you can’t see straight and your lost looks like this- automatically add another item to the reasons to live column- “I am not thinking right and am unwell. I cannot and should not make major decisions. I should seek help until I find it.” Once your list looks like this you KNOW you are wrong even if you can’t understand how or why. It’s not so easy as to say “so snap out of it...” but knowing there is a problem is most often the first step to fixing it. It can be long, or even a constant battle. It’s wprth fighting though, because even if it’s werks or years or decades, even of only for a few moments at a time- if you fight you’ll see the right side of the list very full and the left very empty.
