Chlorophyll Venusaur is the best Grass sweeper in the game now that Ninetales and
Mega-Charizard Y have Drought. Don't even get me started on Primal Groudon.
Mega Venusaur is also an absolute beast now that mega evolutions happen before the turn, meaning thick fat protection from the beginning.
In my Blue, I picked Squirtle, no lie. I beat the whole game with Squirtle/Kabuto/Weedle/Haunter/Machop/Pigeot; obviously all evolving... because I never knew how to switch them. My sister restarted with Charmander and couldn't get passed Brock. I bitched her out and didn't talk with her for two months. By then Gold/Silver came around and I let her have my Blue so she'd leave me alone. I picked Chickorita at first, out of spite.. and beat the game (Lugia + Kabutops + Mantine was dangerous, even with 3x water). Then with Gold I went with Cyndiquil. I restarted Silver after you get through the other side, had homie trade everything over and then trade back... then I went through with a bulbsaur from about as close as you can get to the beginning. <3
