Was an ambulance called or was he just driven to the hospital? Makes a huge difference and an ambulance would know which hospitals are full and/or able to take on more patients.
It's been a long while since I haven't been shocked but there it is. I guess growing up with free healthcare makes his sentence equivalent to a cold blooded "food is not a right. If you can't afford it, it's only normal you die".
Well I guess, but to me it's basic 'albeit institutionalised) humanity. It's like forgiveness, you're not entitled to it but I don't want to live in a society where it doesn't exist.
It's not like only a select few have it. It's like housing in a way. There are some who don't have it but most people do even if it's not the one they want forever. And it's not like emergency services aren't available. If someone has a heart attack or something an EMT won't charge them to come use an AED and revive them but if they need continued testing, care, or medicine they'll be charged
