Sweet. But sad. The “Easter” bunny, the “Halloween” cat, the “Christmas/Valentines day” Dog, etc... many happy stories there- but many sad ones too. Most of my local shelters refuse to adopt certain types or any animals at certain times of year. You can complete the adoption and essentially “reserve” the animal until the ban is lifted in a few weeks or so- but can’t pick it up until then. Too many people adopt because they think it will be cute and endearing- thinking about a memorable gift or holiday versus the animals well being. They treat animals like a Toy or a ring and not as living creatures who are a likely decades commitment. These animals are often mistreated or even abandoned or “disposed of” after novelty wears off and routine sets in. I hope all these dogs went to good, responsible, loving homes. That said- holiday adoptions in general are worrisome. People get impulsive on holidays and an animal isn’t something to be taken in on impulse unless you follow through long term

There was actually a news story about that where I live. They urged people not to adopt dogs as a christmas gift because too often the animals end up abandoned, or, worse, abused. If you know what it means to have an animal and can guarantee the person the animal is going to does as well that's great, but often times it's not the case
