Not really. While there is no empirical proof our best guestimate is that it's around 2-6% of our population. This has remained steady for about as long as we've cared to try and track it. What we are seeing is alot more press and media coverage about the subject than ever before. There is a fast growing trend to portray or cover the issue in all media formats with a strong push to see it included in all tv shows and movies. While I don't have a problem with their portrayal in tv shows or movies it should only be representative of the actual population.
Personally as a gay person- it feels easier to come out now than it would have 20 years ago. There’s not more gay people, just more gay people not afraid of getting fag-dragged for coming out of the closet
