Cats are sweet just like dogs if you treat them good

Are they suggesting people who hate cats should adopt cats so they'll be allowed to say they hate them? Because I can see a lot of things going wrong with that.

Thank you! I always ask people who say "cats are dickheads" or "cats are assholes" or "I don't understand why people like cats" if they've ever owned a cat. I swear, 90 percent of the time they have never owned a cat. They also say that they've been scratched by one. I ask them to explain what happened, and again, 90 percent of the time it was their fault for scaring the cat and causing it to scratch them. So there you go. I also detest how it's perfectly fine to say that you hate cats, but if you say you hate dogs you'll be getting death threats in your inbox and suddenly everyone on your social media knows your address and your Social Security number.

@purplepumkin makes a valid observation. Additionally- I have also never had my lungs filled with sand, but based on all available and objective facts I do not believe I would like it, and will say I think having your lungs filled with sand sucks and is lame. Now- it’s very true that many people have incorrect assumptions about cats. There’s also the fact that “cats” much like dogs are not all the same. They all have their own personalities and behaviors and there are many breeds that tend toward certain traits. You also can’t compare a feral cat to a socialized and homed dog, it is much closer to a feral dog or a wild wolf. If you are expecting lassie and you trap a hyena- you would likely not care for dogs much either. So you can’t expect a cat to be what it is not, but you also can’t expect all cats are the same. Trouble is that until an animal is grown and or used to you- you don’t really know how it will turn out, so if you have preconceptions about that you might stay away from..

.. animals in general. Not all dogs like to cuddle and hug. Not all like water, or play fetch, or listen. You also don’t know who your dog will bond the strongest with and instead of a best friend you might get a close acquaintance who really fancies your romantic partner, sibling, friend, or house cleaner. I’ve had huskies and Akitas who were very aloof. Almost “cat like” to the stereotype of how they dealt with people. I had a cat that would come when called and chase a ball. In general cats and dogs will fall on a spectrum of common behaviors and traits, but may not. The specifics of having a cat or dog tend to be different but in general the love either breed will give is the same, it’s just about lifestyle, preference, and of course the individual animal. Neither is “better” or “evil.”

I'm afraid of cats and more of a dog person myself, but one day a stray cat keeps coming to my house and it's been a year, guess she's my cat now.

My only problem with cats is that whenever I try to interact with them, they just walk away, taking all my self worth with them
