I’m not shaming anyone here- some might argue that it isn’t appropriate to call a child an asshole or swear in front of or to a child, there’s room for more than one parenting style in the world though, so that’s not for me to say even though I have my own opinions. However- there is a distinction I would like to make clear. There is a distinct difference between calling a child an asshole and saying they are being an asshole. To call a person a thing is to label them and define them by that thing. To say they are behaving a way in a moment is to call attention to a behavior and allow them to think about if that is the type of person they want to be. So I don’t know that it is fair to call a child an asshole at all, out of anyone we could argue this for- children are in a constant state of growth and change at a fast pace. So I don’t think it’s apt to call a child an asshole in general as much as it is to say they are being an asshole or exhibiting the behavior of an asshole.
