I actually don't mind calamari... except that it looks like little baby octopuses and while I'm not a vegetarian I dislike eating baby animals
'
Never tried eel (that I know of) haha.
'
But yeah, I'm not big on sea food to begin with, but making it raw doesn't do it any favours for me personally. The fact that I watched one too many episodes of "monsters inside me" probably didn't help. :P
'
The only "sushi" I genuinely don't mind is the veggie ones, which I'm not sure even qualify as sushi. I just see them frequently marketed as such
Eel is "unagi" on sushi menus and it's thankfully completely cooked. It is rich and smoky in a bacon-like way.
,
I often prefer the veggie rolls, too. I've never been a big fan of seafood but I am now making a strong mental note to avoid whatever "monsters inside me" is, haha
Haha I think I learned that from Friends. I'm not a fan of smoky flavours though so it doesn't sound like it would be appealing to me tbh

Monsters Inside Me is a show that does dramatic re-enactments and information about real life cases of how parasites are contracted, what they do, what the experience of the infected were, and the eventual outcome. Sushi itself wasn't covered overly much, but raw crabs and crayfish and such were featured in at least 3 episodes (and I didn't watch that many seasons). Apparently they have a very high propensity for carrying a parasite known as a lung fluke, which is far from the WORST parasite, but definitely not one you want to get.
'
You definitely want to make sure wherever you're getting sushi is freezing their stuff to the required temperature haha
