I never knew I always wondered this, but now I do: if a helicopter is going down and you have to bail... how do you do that with the greatest chance of survival? You can't exactly eject like in an F-16, there are rotating blades above.

Enter into what’s called autorotation. Flatten your blades to keep momentum then pitch them again close to ground and that should give you a softer landing.. still gonna be hell tho. Landing skid is designed to crush as well
