My daughter brings contracts from her school that says she will take care of electronic devices they lend her. Like chrome tablets and laptops. Not only do I have to sign them but she has to as well.
Which makes it fully legal.
I'm doubting the validity of this story. Especially considering that if you are distracting yourself or other students, most schools can remove the source of the distraction. It's generally part of the school rules, or maybe it's just my school that does that.
What is the district's policy? What constitutes a distraction or a disruption? Texting in class is a disruption unless it's an emergency.
It's nice this kid is going to law school, but the teacher has quite a few avenues available as well. I'm betting that teacher had a retort for the next kid who tried it.
"You have to give me your phone."
"OK, but like, I really don't."
Which makes it fully legal.
