Nene was not laughed out of office, he resigned due to a scandal. His resignation had nothing to do with this story, due largely to the fact that this story only ever existed in fake news sites that specialize in baseless BS.

I linked to that newspunch.com article earlier but it looks like you're correct that it's a fake news site. I was basing my comments off that article, but Nene's Wikipedia page is more in line with what you're saying. My bad! I'm glad South Africa isn't on the cusp of something crazy like this.
