That it is both amazing and terrifying. While I can only grasp some of the science behind this it could lead to phenomenal advances in energy production and micro-manipulation. Of course if it cascades and they lose containment we could say goodbye to a good chunk of China.

Someone one who's know's science explain how the electron thingy can reach 100 million degrees without melting the metal etc around it???

It only happens for a insurmountable fraction of a second, so the heat can't transfer fast enough to do damage before it's too dissipated.
